Bright Breakfast

 "Bright Breakfast"
10 x 20 inches, oil on canvas

A couple of weeks into my residency at Playa, it suddenly felt like my studio was full of paintings. How did that happen? It was the elves. I came into the studio every morning excited to see what they'd been working on overnight....

....and stopped on the way to snap heartbreaking sunrise pictures like this one!

It's great to see them all hanging together. They look so lovely! And every studio needs an elf, that's for sure!
I have always wondered why eggs in the USA are white, yet here in the UK, they're brown... I wonder why that is... It's a head-scratcher!

O-o-o-h, this is a goodie! Eggs are tricky to paint, but yours are sublime. More than that, however, the entire painting is a show off piece. I find the spoon particularly captivating, but every element is wonderfully accomplished. The glass bowl, the reflective shadows, the enameled jug are all so perfect.

I'd write more, but I must go back and look at it again...
